Samples

Sample Request

At the enquiry stage, free samples cover existing standard items and items that are already tooled; freight on the sample is paid by the customer.

Coverage

What a sample can cover

A sample answers a narrower question than a quote does. It shows the item itself, so tell us which item in the set you want to look at: valve, actuator, cap or can.

Covered at the enquiry stage

  • An existing standard item.
  • An item that is already tooled, so a mould exists for it.
  • The other parts of the set you are considering, where those are standard or already tooled, so the items can be checked together.

These samples are free of charge. The customer pays the freight on the sample.

Not covered at the enquiry stage

  • An item that needs a new mould. The tooling step comes first: the tooling fee is settled before the mould is made, and the sample fee is waived for that item.
  • A sample of an item you have not specified yet. Technical parameters, quantity and required lead time come before the sample or drawings, and the price comes after those.

A sample of a standard or already-tooled item is not the official pre-production sample. That one is ordered separately once the item is confirmed, and is charged separately before it is made.

Fees

Freight and fees

Freight is separate from the item, and it is always paid by the customer. The fee rules below are the same ones we apply in every enquiry.

Sample at the enquiry stage
Free of charge where the item is an existing standard item or is already tooled. The customer pays the freight.
Non-standard item needing a new mould
The tooling fee is paid first, and the sample fee is waived for that item. Freight is still paid by the customer.
Official pre-production sample
Charged separately, before the sample is made. The fee is refunded once the agreed cumulative purchase of that product is reached.
Tooling fee against quantity
A tooling fee is amortized or waived on large volumes, and charged separately on small ones.
Free-sample limits
The number of free samples, and the items they cover, are set in the contract rather than fixed on this page.

Approval

Approval and test data

Sample approval and acceptance of the test data must be in writing. The approved sample and the accepted test data are the acceptance baseline, so they are what any later question about the item is measured against.

The written approval is what moves the item forward. Until the sample and its test data are accepted in writing, the item stays a proposal, and the same approved sample and test data stay the reference for the order that follows.

The form

Sample request

Name the item you want sampled, the finished product it goes into, and the quantity you are working towards. Where the item needs a new mould, say so: the tooling step is part of the answer, not a separate enquiry.

This enquiry form is not connected yet. It is shown so the page can be reviewed, and nothing typed here is sent or stored. Once an enquiry form is published, it replaces this placeholder.

Name the finished product, the volume, the annual quantity and any technical constraint you already know.

Sending stays switched off until the form is connected.

Not connected yet

  • This form is not connected to a receiving endpoint yet, so nothing is sent from this page. The submit control is disabled for that reason, not because a field is missing.
  • The fields stay visible so you can see what a sample request has to contain. Until the endpoint is connected, a request cannot reach us through this page.

Need the price as well as the item?

Send the finished product, the packaging requirement and the quantity, and the quote follows the same facts the sample does.
